Pavement assessor to begin work in Rochester

As part of its commitment to keeping its assets in the best possible condition, the Rochester Bridge Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of a new pavement assessor.

Xais-PTS has been contracted to carry out pavement assessments of all of the Trust’s paved areas in Rochester. This will include a range of surveys and inspections to collect data to inform the bridge maintenance plans.

Helen Rowe, Bridge Project Manager at the Trust, said: “When reviewing the tenders for this contract we were particularly impressed by Xais-PTS and the time they took to understand our requirements. We look forward to them providing data to help us ensure the bridges remain reliable transport routes and are maintained with minimal disruption to the public.”

The contract will run for six years, with Xais-PTS producing a detailed network map and inventory of the assets before carrying out a key condition survey in 2025.

Rochester resident and Contract Director for Xais-PTS Mark Chiverrell said: “While we carry out pavement assessments and conditions surveys across the country, I am particularly pleased to be working on an asset that is a part of my everyday life and such a strategic link for the town. Rochester Bridge is a fascinating landmark and the different structures and surroundings will make this a varied and interesting project.”

As this activity is part of the routine maintenance of Rochester Bridge, it will be carried out at Net Zero Carbon.
