Pedestrians and cyclists are advised there will be a temporary shared space closure on Rochester’s New Bridge, while routine inspections take place.
During the closures, which will run outside of peak times during daylight from 14-18 and 21-25 October, pedestrians will be asked to cross the road using the traffic lights, to access the footway on the Old Bridge. Cyclists are asked to either join the carriageway or dismount to use the pedestrian diversion.
The works have been coordinated with Medway Council’s single lane closure, to minimise disruption to bridge users. This is to enable the safe operation of inspection equipment.
All the Rochester Bridge Trust’s bridge maintenance work is carried out at net zero carbon.
