Street works guidance and consultation procedure

The Rochester Bridge Trust is the street authority for the streets it owns.

Accordingly, all utility companies wishing to carry out works on, or affecting, the Trust’s land MUST comply with the requirements of the New Road and Street Works Act 1991 (“the 1991 Act”) and the Code of Practice for the Co-ordination of Street Works and Works for Road Purposes and Related Matters (“the Code of Practice”).

Third-parties including the organisers of public events wishing to place signs, banners, materials, equipment or items of traffic management, on, or affecting, the Trust’s land MUST obtain the Trust’s consent and also follow the consultation procedures of the 1991 Act and the Code of Practice.

Failure to comply with these requirements is a criminal offence.
