Footway restrictions on Rochester’s Old Bridge

Pedestrians are advised there will be a temporary footway closure on the Old Bridge at Rochester for two days from Monday, 11th December, to enable essential works to take place.

The works are to enable investigations into a street lighting fault and require excavation under the footway. For pedestrian safety, a diversion will be managed by marshals from the maintenance contractors, and members of the public will be asked to use the footway on the New Bridge from 9am until 3.30pm on both days.

Jim Booth of Bridge Engineer Arcadis said: “This footway closure is to ensure the safety of pedestrians on the busy road bridge. We appreciate the public’s co-operation in following the marshals’ diversion across the New Bridge at this time, and will do our best to carry out the works in the shortest – and safest – possible time.”
