Lane restrictions on Rochester’s bridges

Motorists are advised there will be temporary single lane closures on the bridges at Rochester overnight on Thursday, 2nd November, to enable essential works to take place.

The works are part of a routine cleaning programme and to facilitate the safe installation of the Trust’s Christmas lights. This will be carried out by FM Conway, on behalf of the Rochester Bridge Trust.

Jim Booth of Arcadis, Bridge Engineers to the Trust, explained: “It may seem a little early to be putting up Christmas lights, but this is the last time we have any planned works on the bridges before the end of the year, and so the installation has been arranged to minimise the need for lane closures later. We appreciate people’s patience.”

The traffic management is scheduled to run overnight from approximately 9pm until 5am, in order to minimise disruption to road-users. The lights will be switched on towards the end of November.
