Rochester Bridge Refurbishment Project

Welcome to the Rochester Bridge Refurbishment Project. This area of the website is dedicated to the bridge refurbishment works that were carried out by the Rochester Bridge Trust in 2019-20.

The works – which were carried out at no cost to the public – included the combined refurbishment of Rochester’s Old Bridge, New Bridge and Service Bridge, as well as Rochester and Strood Esplanades.

These pages were regularly updated throughout the project and include:

• Bridge Engineer’s Blogs – introducing and reviewing the works, explaining processes and providing progress updates
• Traffic Notices – to keep the public informed about any temporary changes to the road layout
• People profiles – to introduce key characters and put faces to the names of those involved
• Contractor profiles – to explain who is doing the work
• Virtual Tours – brief video introductions to aspects of the site and the work
