Welcome to seven new engineering scholars at The Rochester Bridge Trust

The Rochester Bridge Trust welcomed seven new students to its scholarship programmes on Sunday 19 October. The scholarships are all aimed at encouraging the next generation of engineers.

Emma, Laura and Lily are the latest students to become Rochester Bridge Trust Arkwright Scholars. Joining them were George and Jacqueline, awarded Harriott Engineering Scholarships, as well as Sophia and Alfie, awarded Telford Engineering Scholarships.

These scholarships are awarded to students from the historic county of Kent studying maths, physics and/or design technology at A-Level, and are intended to help support their studies.

The Trust will also help the seven students with networking opportunities and educational activities.

Russell Cooper, Senior Warden of The Rochester Bridge Trust, welcomed and congratulated the scholars, who were then taken on a hard hat tour of Rochester Bridge by the Trust’s bridge engineers.

The new scholars also got to meet previous scholarship alumni.

Stephen Sharp, Education Manager at The Rochester Bridge Trust, was one of those on hand to welcome the talented students.

Stephen said: “It was fantastic to welcome our new engineering scholars and introduce them to The Rochester Bridge Trust.

“What I enjoyed most was seeing our alumni scholars connect with the new cohort. The new scholars were full of thoughtful and in-depth questions. You could really see just how passionate and curious these future engineers are.”
