Scholarships for STEM students open to applicants

Students in Kent can receive £300 per year to support their sixth-form studies, thanks to two scholarships offered by Rochester Bridge Trust.

The Telford Engineering Scholarship and Harriott Engineering Scholarship are both open for applications until 1 May.

They are available to students intending to study A-Levels in maths and physics and/or design and technology. The scholarships provide students with £300 per year for two years.

Over the course of each scholarship, students benefit from enrichment activities, including work experience with the Trust’s in-house Bridge Team and a variety of site visits.

Additionally, the school attended by the successful applicant during the application process will also receive a one-off payment of £400 to be put towards STEM education.

The Telford Engineering Scholarship is open to students at non-fee paying, selective schools, while the Harriott Engineering Scholarship is open to students at non-fee paying, non-selective schools.

Applicants must be studying at schools within the historic county of Kent, which includes the modern county of Kent as well as Medway, Bexley and Bromley.

The scholarships were launched in recognition of Thomas Telford, former Bridge Engineer of Rochester Bridge and Paul Harriott, former Warden of the bridge.

You can find out more about how to apply for each scholarship on their respective pages:
