Overnight lane restrictions on Rochester’s bridges

Motorists are advised there will be temporary single lane closures on both the bridges at Rochester.

The works on the New Bridge are part of the Rochester Bridge Refurbishment Project, and are required to adjust the temporary road layout to enable work to begin on the downstream side of the bridge. These will be carried out by contractor FM Conway, on behalf of the Rochester Bridge Trust.

The traffic management is scheduled to run overnight for two weeks from Monday to Friday, 23rd-27th September and from 30th September to 4th October. It is anticipated these works will be completed ahead of schedule.

There will also be an overnight single lane closure of the Old Bridge, for one week beginning on 30th September. This is to accommodate the regular maintenance schedule to clean the structure’s iconic bowstring trusses.

All single lane closures will be carried out overnight from approximately 9pm until 5am, in order to minimise disruption to road-users.
