Bridge Clerk shortlisted for national charity awards

The Chief Executive of the Rochester Bridge Trust has been shortlisted in the Charity Times Awards. Now in their 20th year, the awards are a celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector.

One of five finalists in the Charity Principal of the Year category, Sue Threader said: “It is the third year that I have been shortlisted in this category, and it is always an honour to have my efforts recognised among such an impressive list of national finalists.”

Sue has been the Bridge Clerk/Chief Executive of the Rochester Bridge Trust for more than a decade. Since her appointment, while being the first woman and first civil engineer to hold the post, Sue has transformed the organisation, expanded its education programme and is currently overseeing a £10m refurbishment project to ensure the bridges will continue to be provided to the public – free of charge – in perpetuity.

The four other finalists are: Lindsay Boswell, FareShare; Justin Humphreys & Steve Ball, Thirtyone:eight; Kate Lee, CLIC Sargent and Kirsty Smith, CBM.

Winners will be announced at a gala dinner in London on 2nd October. See www.charitytimes.com/awards for further information.
