One of the many carbon reduction measures supporting the Rochester Bridge Trust’s transition to carbon-neutral working is the purchase of an ebike.
Offering up to 60 miles of supported cycling, the Carrerra Crossfire Electric Hybrid has been provided for use by the Term Maintenance Contractor (TMC) to travel to and from the bridges, so removing a car from the road.
While the ebike will be available for all work relating to the Rochester Bridge Trust, it is primarily for use for the TMC Contract Manager, with the team also utilising an electric van for the movement of large items. A third staff member lives near enough to the site to be able to walk to work.
A bike rack is also available outside the Trust’s offices in St Andrew’s House. This was installed following a request by staff who have chosen to cycle to work. It has also proved popular with trustees and visitors, and was first used by former Senior Warden Russell Cooper.
