Double shortlisting in the hunt for the world’s best bridge

The Rochester Bridge Trust is pleased to announce it has been shortlisted in two categories of an international awards scheme.

Now in their tenth year, The Bridgehunter Awards celebrates historic and unique bridges and is organised as part of The Bridgehunter’s Chronicles, a website dedicated to profiling bridges that tourists should visit around the world. The winners are decided by a public vote.

Rochester Bridge itself has been shortlisted in the Best Example of a Restored Historic Bridge, following its recent refurbishment. It is competing against eight other bridges, including structures in Germany, Iran and the USA. You can find out more about the shortlist here, or cast your vote on this page.

Also shortlisted is Bridge Programme Manager Kate Castle, who has been nominated in the Lifetime Achievement category. While involved in the Rochester Bridge Refurbishment Project, Kate recorded a series of virtual tours during the pandemic to introduce people to the different aspects of engineering that were taking place. Voting closes at 7pm on 21st January 2022.
