PAYE Stonework And Restoration

Have you noticed there have been some changes to the stonework between the Old Bridge and the New Bridge?

One of the country’s longest established companies in the heritage sector, PAYE Stonework and Restoration, has been hard at work repairing, cleaning and installing granite, in particular a smart new granite balustrade at the Rochester end of the bridges.

Specialists in the restoration and conservation of historic facades, monuments and other important structures, the London-based company has worked on many high-profile projects, including at Windsor Castle, the V&A Museum and the Temple of Mithras.

For the Rochester Bridge Refurbishment Project they are carrying out a mixture of engineering works and new build on the New Bridge, whereas on the Old Bridge and Rochester Esplanade their focus is on conservation and repair. PAYE Stonework and Restoration is contracted by FM Conway, and their work is being managed under an NEC4 contract, which is a different approach to the JCT Standard Building contract that is more common for conservation projects.
