George Rennie’s Notebook
John Rennie’s eldest son George Rennie created a notebook of accurate drawing of many of his father’s works. The notebook is held in the archive collection of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
The notebook includes dimensioned diagrams, construction drawings, calculations and quantities for many of John Rennie’s works, including some of the less well-known structures such as Stretton and Staines Bridges, and details of the mechanism for a swing bridge. Accurate sketches of many of the projects described on this website are also included.
