Dave Rowe from Mott MacDonald Limited, principal engineer for the portico repairs to the Old Bridge, has announced the following schedule of works that will necessitate limited lane closures on the upstream side of Rochester Bridge between 8 May and 21 May 2012:
Tuesday, 8 May (9:30-15:30)
Traffic management will be put in place after 09:30 for the closure of the inside lane of the Old Bridge, so that the specialist stonemasons from DBR (London) Limited can lift the new stone and the stone in store onto the scaffold around the portico. Jackson Civil Engineering will commence works on replacing the accident damaged guardrail. The inside lane to the Old Bridge will be opened prior to 15:30 on the same day.

Lyons Electrical will commence investigation works relating to the failed street lighting, which may require the replacement of the electrical cable under the pedestrian footway between the two street light columns.
Saturday, 12 May-Sunday, 13 May
Traffic management will be put in place on Saturday for the closure of the inside lane of the Old Bridge while the scaffold around the viewing platform is removed. After completion of the removal of the scaffolding around the viewing platform, the inside lane of the Old Bridge will be re-opened on Sunday.
Saturday, 19 May-Sunday, 20 May
Traffic management will be put in place on Saturday for the closure of inside lane to the Old Bridge, to allow scaffolding to be stripped around the portico. Following completion of the removal of scaffolding around the portico on Sunday, the inside lane of the Old Bridge will be re-opened.
Monday 21 May 2012
Traffic management will be put in place while the repaired section of the guardrail is erected, owing to this being the earliest date it can be delivered to site.

1. The Rochester Bridge Trust is a charitable trust that exists to maintain the old and new bridges at Rochester and serve the travelling public. It is the only surviving bridge trust still serving its original purpose, and it has served the people of Kent since 1399. The Trust also supports numerous community and education projects across historic Kent and Medway.
